The Wildlife Lodge
is located between the hills of Thornhill in the
Malaria free Eastern Cape, situated 25 min from Jeffreys
Bay and 35 min from Port Elizabeth.
Located at African Dawn Bird and
Wildlife Sanctuary. At the sanctuary you can experience a
variety of endangered birds and animals or see
the larger animals like Giraffe in the 1000 hectare Game
Reserve.

Volunteers offers wildlife volunteers the opportunities
to work with animals at the sanctuary, on the game
reserve and in the local community.

Accommodation:
The lodges are located
in the middle of the game area, surrounded by a variety of animals.
When you wake in the morning you are able to see giraffe, tortoises,
antelope, wildebeests, zebras, aardvark, springbok, cheetah, birds
and of course a beautiful sunrise over the reserve. Could you
morning start any better? Wait till you have breakfast in the fresh
clear morning air. The lodge is
completely made out of wood, which gives you the ‘back to nature’
feeling. Cabins are located 20m
from main lodge and offers guests a little more privacy than the
main lodge, guests share the ablutions in the main lodge.

200 species of birds and other animals including the illusive Knysna
Loerie, the majestic black eagle, our beautiful servals, cheetahs
and much more.

Bar and Restaurant
At the bar we serve a variety of drinks and meals. Inside the bar is a (BBQ) area where we make
traditional Braais and Potjiekos, a typical South African
dish made with many different ingredients in cast iron pots on the
fire.

Wildlife Sanctuary Volunteers
If your passion is helping to save and protect endangered
wildlife species in South Africa this is the project for you.
Located between Port Elizabeth and Jeffrey's Bay is the Sanctuary, a
beautiful haven for unwanted, abandoned and injured animals. The
sanctuary is also a breeding centre for endangered species for
future generations to enjoy. Next to the sanctuary is a 1000 hectare
game reserve which you will also have the opportunity to experience.

Project

Thornhill is a small community located 25min from Jeffreys
bay towards Port Elizabeth, volunteers will stay at our
Wildlife Lodge at the Wildlife Sanctuary and transported to and from
the project on week days. The aim of our community projects is both to have
a cultural exchange and the upliftment of disadvantaged children -
Work with children from 6 months to six years old, playing games,
singing songs and exchanging cultures.
