Endangered Species Project

This Project is set up and managed by All Africa Volunteers assisting the Animal Rehabilitation Centre between Port Elizabeth and Jeffreys Bay with the daily care and funding to feed and care for stranded and injured animals. This project was identified as having a true need for volunteers to support with time and funding. We have introduced a breeding program for endangered species like, Cheetah, Blue Duiker, Servels and many other species to follow with the support from volunteers and sponsors.

(Volunteers applying for these projects must arrange their flight to Port Elizabeth, South Africa)

Accommodation

The lodges are located in the middle of the game area, surrounded by a variety of animals. When you wake in the morning you are able to see giraffe, tortoises, antelope, wildebeests, zebras, aardvark, springbok, cheetah, birds and of course a beautiful sunrise over the reserve. Could you morning start any better? Wait till you have breakfast in the fresh clear morning air.

The lodge is completely made out of wood, which gives you the ‘back to nature’ feeling.

There also is a bar ‘The Waterhole’ where everyone comes together and you will be able to enjoy drinks, have dinner and do a little dancing if you like. Here you can taste Potjie, a typical South African dish made with many different ingredients in cast iron pots on the fire.

One Eight Sleeper dorm, One Double with Lounge, Two Singles, 4 Rooms with Twin Beds.

Volunteer Program

  • Working as a volunteer you will be involved in many aspects of conservation and wildlife care.

  • When we do have new born animals you will have the rare opportunity of caring for them this means being responsible for the young's well being and upbringing.

  • Giving the young comfort, feeding them with milk formula from a bottle.  Replacing their mother in all ways.

  • Cuddling and just sitting with young animals help them grow strong. Interacting with the public extends to assisting our staff in training and conservation awareness.
