I've stayed in Jeffreys Bay for three weeks and
worked as a volunteer at one of the schools in the township. The
children at the Creche were very adorable and the two teachers were
just amazing in their dedication to educate about 40-50 children
every single day. They could definitely use some helping hands and
their appreciation for me investing three weeks of my time in
helping them was enormous...........

Lion and Elephant Volunteers South Africa

This is your opportunity to get
involved in game reserve management working alongside top
conservationists and wildlife, including Africa's Big
Five species on a five star game reserve.
You'll find your experience
stimulating, challenging and an exceptional learning experience,
that most people only dream of.
THE
PROJECT:
The
Volunteer Project is designed to offer volunteers the opportunity to
be involved in all conservation related projects on the reserve.
During your stay, you may see yourselves as "assistant conservation
managers" as all of the work done by you will improve the quality of
the reserve and the data collected by you will be utilized by
management in making important conservation decisions for the
reserve. As a volunteer you therefore derive a good deal of
satisfaction from your work, as your efforts directly contributes to
improving the reserve.
While getting involved in every aspect of hands-on conservation
management on the reserve, you will learn many conservation skills
and have the experience of a lifetime. To top it all off, we have a
brilliant community outreach programme. Our volunteers assist at a
local rural farm school by providing food prepared by our chefs.
Come and make a real difference and have fun doing so!

ANIMALS:
You will encounter the
impressive white rhino as these monarchs of the African bush roam
the plains as freely as if hundred of years ago. Delight in the
entertaining squabbles and games of the playful Vervet monkeys or
Chacma baboons, the original comedians of the wild!
Indulge your fascination as you stumble upon a family of warthog,
digging for roots or speeding across the lains with their trademark
“tails held high”. You’ll be awestruck by our zebra, giraffe,
wildebeest, and many of the common and rare antelope who have roamed
these plains for centuries. From the delicate solitary Blue duiker,
who melts out of the brush at the edge of a clearing, to the
towering kudu bull, who fixes his gaze on you as he browses nearby.
At night the porcupine, aardwolf,
caracal, and other nocturnal explorers and predators patrol the
silent, inky darkness. The adventurer may even be treated to the
thrilling sight of a leopard.
The Undisputed
King of Jungle, African Lions (Panthera leo). Cheetahs (Acynonix
jubatus) are among the worlds' fastest land animals, capable
of speeds of over 100km an hour, using it's long tail for balance
while running.
Our sanctuary
elephants are a labour of love. Nearly culled in a Limpopo Game
Reserve, the Reserve Family did all in their power to save the
creatures and provide them with a new home in the Reserve. And as
you see these colossal creatures amble in the glow of the Eastern
Cape sun, there is little doubt that they have, indeed, found home.

What other Volunteers say
I finished my volunteer work and
travelled around for one more week along the Garden Route. Now I
wanted to tell you that I arrived safely in Germany two days ago.
During last week Sun and I had a good time without any
complications. I really enjoyed my stay in South Africa especially
my time at the project. I liked the work we had to do and got a good
impression of how to manage a game reserve. The weekends were always
interesting and relaxing. Thank you that we got the possibility to
experience so many different situations in your country. I will keep
an eye on your forum because I love your place.
Yours sincerely
Rebecca Geyer
